Actionable and Foundation Groups

Curious about actionable and foundation groups? There's a prescription for that and it's right here in this article because we're going to give you the knowledge you need to know what these group types are for and what they do.

Actionable groups

Groups with tangible assets and a workflow are considered actionable groups. The workflow in actionable groups can include actions, reports, or anything else that involves making changes to the asset.

Basically, actionable groups are where all your main work is performed.

Foundation groups

Foundation groups are akin to the laying of a foundation. A foundation is often laid to assist with a structure. Foundation groups are similar in that they exist to assist with something. They exist to assist in actionable group classification.

Foundation groups have no workflow or actions, and do not house any assets. This makes foundation groups kind of cool because since they don't house assets, they also don't count towards the total asset cap set by your subscription (the 10 group limit).

An example of a foundation group is Categories.

You can use foundation groups within any other group by adding a Group List field that pulls from the foundation group. By doing so, you can filter that group’s assets by their category using the Group By feature.
